Here's where you'll find answers to any questions or problems that may come up while using Aurelia Reporter. If your question isn't listed in here or you have a feature request, please contact us at support@aureliasystems.com and we'll make every effort to help you resolve your problem. Images
are black or missing when printing from a browser
- This
is a bug with version 5 and earlier of Internet Explorer. This has
been fixed in version 5.5.
Report
runs off the edge of the page when printed from a browser -
If your report includes margins then these will get added to the browser's
own print margins so you will end up with a very large left margin
and most likely some text will be missing from the right side. To
remedy this, set up Reporter to suppress the margins. If the document
still runs off the paper then you may need to increase the original
document margins. They have to be at least as wide as the print margins
of the browser from which the document will be printed.
Document
prints with incorrect page breaks - When
you print out a report in continuous mode, the browser will generate
its own page breaks based upon its print margin and paper size settings.
These may not match up to the page breaks that your application generated
when you converted the document. The new HTML standard does include
some features that allow page designers better control over printing,
however at this time they have yet to be widely implemented in browsers.
Reporter
won't use my E-mail client to send mail - Reporter
requires at least Eudora 4.3, Outlook 98, or Outlook
Express version 5. If your mail client isn't one of these, then
it will use its own built-in mail client. Furthermore, if you're using
Outlook with Microsoft Word as the HTML editor, Reporter will
use its built-in client as well since Microsoft Word can't properly
display standard HTML.
Mail
messages appear blank or as attachments in the Outlook message window
- This
will happen if you're using Outlook with Microsoft Exchange 5.5
since this version of Exchange lacks the required level of HTML support.
You have to either use Exchange 2000 or switch Reporter to use its
built-in mail client.
Some
mail recipients tell me they can't view my HTML e-mails - Not
all mail programs can understand HTML e-mail. Reporter e-mail has
been successfully tested against most popular mail programs including
Outlook 98, Outlook Express 5.0, AOL 6.0, Eudora 4.3, and Netscape
Messenger 4.x. It is not however compatible with earlier versions
of Outlook or Outlook Express as these mail clients do not support
HTML, nor is it compatible with web-based mail services such as Yahoo,
Hotmail, etc.
Problems
converting PDF Documents - Most PDF problems are related to font
matching. Unlike all other documents you'll probably encounter, PDF
files contain their own fonts. This of course presents a special problem
when you want to convert
a PDF with private fonts to an HTML file that anyone can view. In
summary, to get good results you will need to have the EXACT fonts
that were used to create the PDF installed on your system when you
do the conversion. Furthermore, anyone who wants to view the HTML
conversion should have the fonts as well. If
these conditions don't hold then probably it's probably best to convert
PDFs as images. This can be accomplished by checking the Print as
Image box in the Acrobat print dialog box. You
can see what fonts were used to create the PDF document by opening
the document in the Acrobat reader then clicking on File/Document
Properties.
